For some, Hot Girl and City Boy summer started in the Spring. Here we are at the peak of the summer and the contest of who is in the lead is the trending topic!

HOT GIRL SUMMER!

I’m not gonna lie was indeed a participant of hot girl summer until now. I realized that I’m no girl I’m a grown-a** woman. It’s the hottest summer I’ve experienced in Memphis and I’m not fond of the heat! So yeah... Hot Girl Summer is over with for Cle!

I have realized the mentality (everyone has their meaning) isn’t me. For one,

I’m surrounded by loving marriages and healthy displays of love and affection. I’m that girl who desires love and romance. So, being a “real a** B***h, give a fuck bout a ni**a” ain’t it.

Secondly, my ig browser pages show me every wedding, engagement, Black love post ever posted (based on what you like on ig). My Facebook shows ads for Every book on how to date properly, find a man, keep a man, be prepared t Lo be a wife. (My phone tapped lol)

Finally, I knew a hot girl summer didn’t include me cause if my playlist... I looooove music! during my shuffle 1 hot girl song played every 20 love songs.

I’m more of a sucker for love than a hot girl!

At first, I thought it was cute since I’m a fan of the city girls n Meg the stallion. Some of their messages in their music are indeed the truth. Yes, ladies, we should be in our bags and yes men should know it’s expensive to date us (Meg The Stallion lyrics)

But do we wanna date scammers? Are we gonna broadcast we are big ole freaks and we are playing with d**ks in the car? Fellas are y’all out here just busting down "thotiannas"? Yeah sounds bad reading it. Where is the love these days?

Everyone is trying to up one another to see who can mistreat the other the worst. Who can finesse who the best? Who can get the most materially and financially out of the situationship (cause real loving relationships aren’t being spoken of) I know the music is meant to be fun and feel good. But let’s be real it’s influencing everything!

Remember in the '90s, early 2000s love seemed to be so much easier and effortless. (though we were young) Maybe because we were listening to Mary J talk about how she was looking for a Real love and Genuine talking about how his whole life had changed. Aaliyah wanted to know if you were that somebody while Tamia was officially missing you. Some man was making Toni Braxton high and Amerie wanted to know why don’t we fall in love?

All I have is the album that has the song "What don't We fall in love" on it

In 2019 why don’t we fall in love? Is it because social media has exposed us to their trending topics like Hot Girl/ City Boy summer? We have been convinced that side pieces are “winning” . The images, memes, social media therapist, influencers, entertainers got us believing love is overrated. We are to only chase the bag, buy lavish handbags and cars, engage in lots of casual sex with other people’s significant others, do drugs, party, pop bottles and post it. Social media is Just full of false reality that fools the masses into thinking those things will make you happy. Why isn’t true love, being married, raising kids in non-toxic relationships a tending topic? Why don’t we glorify growing and building with our significant others, monogamy, praying for your mate, romance ( not buying big gold chains for one another)? What happened to the American dream? Again I ask why don’t we fall in love?

I don’t know about y’all but "hot girl summer" over for ya girl. I'm ready for "falling in Love fall", followed by "somebody’s wife winter" and "I got the ring spring"! (I’m still single though).

LETS FALL IN LOVE YA'LL!!!!!!
